Recylced Fabric Project

I bought this royal blue 100% silk dress at local thrift store, the Bargain Barn. This dress cost me about 25 cents. I cut it in half and made a separate shirt and skirt.

I spent a significant more amount of time sewing the shirt together than the skirt. I cut the sleeves and top of dress off, then I took in the sides and used the scraps to make straps. The bottom edge of the shirt is not finished, I just ripped it across. I was going to change the gold buttons but by the time I came around to it they had grown on me.

The skirt was simple. I made pleats around the top edge and then attached a white spandex waist band so I wouldn't have to sew in a zipper.
